Cobsale Covert is a picturesque woodland located in Sussex, England. Nestled within the larger Sussex Weald, the covert covers an area of approximately 200 acres. It is known for its abundant wildlife, diverse flora, and tranquil atmosphere, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and hikers.

The woodland consists mainly of broadleaf trees, such as oak, beech, and birch, which create a dense canopy overhead. This provides a shady and cool environment, perfect for exploring on hot summer days. The forest floor is covered in a lush carpet of ferns, mosses, and wildflowers, adding to the area's natural beauty.

Cobsale Covert is home to a wide range of wildlife. Visitors may spot deer, foxes, badgers, and numerous bird species, including woodpeckers, owls, and warblers. The tranquil setting and diverse habitats also attract a variety of insects, including butterflies and dragonflies.

The woodland offers several well-marked trails, allowing visitors to explore its hidden corners and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Along the paths, there are designated picnic areas and benches, providing opportunities for visitors to relax and take in the beauty of the woodland.

Cobsale Covert is managed by the local authorities, who ensure the preservation of its natural features and the protection of its wildlife. As a result, the woodland remains largely untouched by human intervention, allowing nature to thrive and creating a haven for both wildlife and visitors alike.

Footpath 1809 near Conies Farm The footpath passes down this long field without clear definition, to exit onto Maplehurst Road via a stile just to the right of the pair of trees at the end. Conies Farm is just visible at the right. It seems to have withdrawn from serious agricultural activity, but it does sell free range eggs.

Link road between the two carriageways of the A24 This short section of road enables traffic, from Copsale, to join the A24 in either directions.
Many years ago while returning south from Horsham we encountered an elderly lady heading north on the southbound carriageway. Fortunately it is a two lane carriageway and we were in the left lane and she was in the other as we rounded the bend a little further north from here. We only said one word which now translate into 'excrement'.
