Fishpond Spinney is a small woodland area located in the town of Huntingdonshire, England. Spanning approximately 5 acres, it is situated near the village of Wood in the district of Huntingdonshire. The spinney, or small wood, is a remnant of the ancient woodland that once covered this region before agricultural development.

The area is characterized by a diverse range of tree species, including oak, ash, birch, and hazel, among others. These trees provide a dense canopy, creating a cool and shaded environment, especially during the summer months. The undergrowth is rich in native flora, such as bluebells, primroses, and wild garlic, which add color and vibrancy to the woodland floor.

Fishpond Spinney is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, mammals, and insects. It serves as a nesting site for several species of birds, including woodpeckers, owls, and thrushes. The dense vegetation and tree cavities provide ideal nesting locations and shelter for these avian inhabitants.

Moreover, the spinney offers a haven for small mammals like squirrels, foxes, and hedgehogs. The presence of water sources, such as the nearby fishponds, attracts amphibians and insects, contributing to the overall biodiversity of the area.

Fishpond Spinney is a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and walkers who enjoy exploring the peaceful surroundings. The tranquil atmosphere and the variety of flora and fauna make it an ideal destination for those seeking a connection with nature.

Kimbolton Looking along the High Street towards Kimbolton School. This was once the A45 (the principal Midlands - East Anglia route) and was a serious bottleneck, especially at the eastern end of the High Street where road negotiates a series of tight narrow bends. Today the road has been downgraded to the B645 (long-distance traffic is now routed via the A14, a few miles to the north) and as a result Kimbolton is a much more peaceful place. The attractive architecture, selection of small shops and pleasant pubs give the village an olde-world atmosphere.
