West carriage drive entrance to Hatchlands This is the beginning of the west carriage drive to Hatchlands, which crosses the park to reach the house. The sign directing visitors to the house via the Epsom Road (complemented by a pre-Worboys sign to 'Leatherhead') is correct for motorists, but singularly unhelpful for pedestrians who would do well to continue down the carriage drive (where they will encounter further discouragement by a notice which says there is access only for local permit-holders). This is all intended to discourage visitors from evading the entry kiosk, but for those with membership cards, or willing to pay, it's far more satisfactory to press on and show up at the kiosk later.
