Danley Kiln Copse is a picturesque woodland located in the county of Sussex, England. Spanning an area of approximately 50 acres, this ancient forest is a haven for nature enthusiasts and those seeking tranquility amidst stunning natural beauty.

The woodland is predominantly composed of dense mixed deciduous trees, including oaks, beeches, and birches, which create a rich and diverse ecosystem. These towering trees provide a dense canopy that filters sunlight, casting a dappled shade on the forest floor below. The woodland is also home to a variety of smaller plants and wildflowers, such as bluebells and wood anemones, which create a vibrant carpet of colors during the springtime.

The forest is intersected by a network of well-maintained footpaths, allowing visitors to explore its enchanting surroundings. These trails wind through the forest, offering glimpses of hidden clearings and babbling brooks along the way. The peaceful ambiance is often interrupted only by the sounds of birdsong and the rustling of leaves underfoot.

Danley Kiln Copse has a rich history, as evidenced by the remnants of an old kiln that once operated in the area. This kiln was used for firing clay pottery and bricks, providing an insight into the industrial heritage of the region.

With its stunning natural scenery and historical significance, Danley Kiln Copse is a treasured woodland that offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is an ideal destination for leisurely walks, birdwatching, and simply immersing oneself in the beauty of nature.

Gatehouse at Bramshott Place The last vestiges of the buildings from Tudor times. The main house, Bramshott Place, was later used as a hospital but abandoned in the 1980s. Plans first for a hotel, then for the re-location of the offices of Lloyds Register of Shipping were rebuffed. Instead a large chunk of the site has been developed as a 'retirement village', covering a far greater area than the original buildings.
