North Skelton railway station (site), Yorkshire
Opened in 1902 by the North Eastern Railway on its line from Saltburn to Whitby, this station closed in 1951. View south east from Watness Avenue bridge. The former station house is hidden in the trees to the right.

Nikolaus Pevsner wrote in the Buildings of England that the railway came to Saltburn in 1860-1. The development of the resort was led by Henry Pease, the Quaker ironmaster.

Constructed in 1884 to replace a vertical hoist.
The pier, Saltburn-by- the Sea
John Anderson built the Alexandra Hotel at the top of the cliff, and then formed a company to build a pier, which was opened in 1869 and was a great success. The pier was badly damaged on three occasions, and was restored in the 1990s with a shorter length than the original. Old OS maps show it projecting into NZ6622.
