Star Inn Harome fire damaged

The Star Inn thatched roof went up in flames on the evening of Wednesday 24th of November 2021. Arson is suspected. As this photo was taken on New Years Eve one can only imagine the number of diners lost over the festive season. The rebuild has been put at 12 months

The sign saying that this route was closed because of a collapsed riverbank was not displayed until halfway along. The scramble along the side of the bank would be impossible if it was wet.

New milepost

The original 'Mattisons of Bedale' casting set up at the turn of the 20th century was not found in 2005. In 2011 Ryedale UDC commissioned Cleveland Corrosion to cast a replacement to the exact proportions and style of lettering. This was determined by examining original Mattison mileposts of this style still in situ on other Ryedale roads.
