Micklethwaite was a township in Collingham parish, became a separate parish in 1866 and was absorbed into Wetherby parish in 1937. This is clearly not the stone’s original location. A boundary stone is shown on the Micklethwaite boundary on old OS maps at approximately SE 40633 46054, but this stone is shown as having a bench mark.

Quiet times on the old A1 The A1 once passed through the centre of Wetherby, then along this route to the north of the town.  Later a by-pass was built and the road became a dual carriageway, but now it is quiet again as the A1 has become a motorway on a parallel route a half mile to the east.
