A lesser used track The waymarked cycleways through the forest are pretty reliable. There are numerous other tracks which look inviting but can lead you into some serious mud. No idea if this one does, just saying that some of them do.

One of the old airfield roads Several kilometres of now crumbling concrete roads cross the heathland in this vicinity. They were once part of RAF Beaulieu, an old WW2 airfield which was finally closed in 1959.
The roads are still pretty solid and now provide reliable cycling and walking routes through an area which otherwise can be quite boggy.
