Old milepost This milepost is on a very narrow pavement on the A61 just north of the A629, Hallwood Road, junction. Someone has painted it recently but not been back to repaint the legend. On the remaining mileposts on this route the distance to Penistone has been ground off at some time. Maybe the wrong numbers were cast although another route from Thurgoland was developed in the early 20C.

Old milestone This milestone is at the back of a narrow verge but road debris thrown up has chipped the paint. It also gets very overgrown with vegetation including nettles so that has to be cleared occasionally. It is Grade II listed 1192552.

Old milepost In the early 1990s the milepost at Wood Seats on the A61 was removed for road works, then reset in 1993. In 2007 it was smashed by a vehicle. These pieces were recovered but the rest was too deep set to be dug up and have the post repaired. It was not 'Listed'.
