Raydale Wood is a picturesque woodland located in the county of Yorkshire, England. Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this enchanting forest covers an area of approximately 300 acres. The wood is nestled within the stunning Raydale Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and meandering streams.

Raydale Wood is predominantly composed of native deciduous trees, including oak, beech, and birch. The lush greenery provides a flourishing habitat for a diverse range of wildlife, from small mammals like badgers and foxes to a variety of bird species such as woodpeckers and owls. Walking through the wood, visitors may also encounter an array of wildflowers, adding bursts of color to the landscape during the spring and summer months.

The wood offers a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts, hikers, and photographers alike. Several well-maintained footpaths crisscross the area, allowing visitors to explore the wood at their own pace. These paths wind through the trees, leading to hidden clearings and providing stunning vistas of the surrounding countryside.

In addition to its natural beauty, Raydale Wood has a rich historical significance. The wood has been utilized for centuries, with evidence of charcoal production and coppicing. Remnants of old stone walls and boundary markers can still be found, providing a glimpse into the area's past.

Whether it be a leisurely stroll, a picnic amidst nature, or simply a desire to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Raydale Wood offers a tranquil and serene setting for all who visit.

Park Scar A fine waterfall dropping over a limestone outcrop. Unusually, the waterfall is not a 'force', whilst the beck is Cragdale Water - quite possibly the only 'water' in the Yorkshire Dales. The fall is well off the beaten track, but visitors to Raydale Preserves at Stalling Busk can take a farm trail which passes close by.
