Old milestone This milestone on the B6255 gathers more white lichens as years pass by. It is south of the bridge over Snaizeholme Beck with a track to Widdale Side opposite. From other milestones remaining in this series, this one would have had 3/HAWES on the base. It may have been set up by the Lancaster and Richmond (Eastern Division) Turnpike Trust, first enacted in 1751. It is similar to those remaining between Askrigg and Sedbusk.
