He also wrote The English Constitution in 1867, Lombard Street in 1873 and articles on the American Civil War, to name just a few of his works.  He died at Hurds Hill aged 51.  Since then the house has been turned into a nursing home and recently under new ownership it has become a venue for business meetings and conferences.
