Ball's Coppice is a picturesque woodland located in Somerset, England. Nestled within the rolling hills of the countryside, this enchanting forest covers an area of approximately 20 acres. The coppice is an ancient woodland, rich in biodiversity and history, with some parts dating back several centuries.

The woodland is predominantly composed of native tree species such as oak, beech, and ash, creating a diverse and vibrant ecosystem. The dense canopy of leaves provides a cool and shaded environment, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and walkers seeking respite from the summer heat.

The forest floor is adorned with a carpet of wildflowers, creating a stunning display of colors during the spring and summer months. Bluebells, primroses, and violets are just some of the species that can be found, attracting a variety of insects and small mammals.

Ball's Coppice also boasts a network of well-maintained trails and footpaths, allowing visitors to explore the woodland at their own pace. As they meander through the forest, visitors may encounter hidden clearings, babbling brooks, and even a small pond teeming with life.

In addition to its natural beauty, Ball's Coppice holds historical significance. It was once used as a source of timber for local communities, and remnants of old charcoal kilns can still be seen scattered throughout the woodland.

Overall, Ball's Coppice is a treasured natural haven in Somerset, offering visitors a tranquil escape into nature and an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and diversity of the local environment.

The buttressing of the chimney makes me think the building has had a storey removed from the top. Seen from the public footpath.
