The EIF always holds its major ballet performances at the Playhouse which is built on the edge of a steep downward hill so that you enter the Circle seats at ground level with the stalls below. Its size is deceptive judged by the front elevation: it actually has a seating capacity of over 3000.

This plaque is dedicated to Jean Armour and was erected by the Democracy for Scotland. It marks the bicentenary of the poet's death. It is located at the end corner of Edinburgh park opposite the Gov't offices. "THE RANK IS BUT THE GUINEA'S STAMP, THE MAN'S THE GOWD FOR A THAT" (The original poem describes how a person should conduct himself by the universal virtues of honesty, goodness, character, and the ability to think.)
