Taken in summer of 1985 when spending time on the terminal roof was a joy for small boys, and their dad! Not allowed nowadays in the much larger terminal building.

Black Callerton Hill lies to the north of the settlement at Black Callerton. The grain crop which covered it has recently been harvested as it has from the field in the foreground.

The A696 runs in a cutting crossed by a flyover where the vehicles area parked; those vehicles are taxis waiting for messages that their clients are ready for collection from the nearby Newcastle Airport. They linger in such places around the airport to avoid paying what they consider to be, (probably quite reasonably), excessive charges that there would be for waiting in the airport grounds.

The light-rail vehicle of the Tyne-Wear Metro is just leaving the station at Callerton Parkway and crossing a minor road before continuing north-west for a final kilometre into the Newcastle Airport terminus.
