Brough is a small settlement located on the island of Shetland, which is part of Scotland. It is situated on the east coast of the island, overlooking Brough Bay. With a population of around 50 residents, it is one of the less populated areas in Shetland, making it a peaceful and tranquil place to live or visit.

Brough is known for its stunning natural beauty, with rugged cliffs and picturesque views of the North Sea. The coastal landscape offers a sense of isolation and rawness that is characteristic of the Shetland Islands. The area is abundant in wildlife, making it a popular spot for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.

The settlement itself consists of a small cluster of houses, a community hall, and a local shop providing essential goods. There are no major amenities or tourist attractions in Brough, but its charm lies in its simplicity and the opportunity it provides for a peaceful retreat or a base to explore the surrounding area.

For those interested in history, Brough is home to a significant archaeological site known as the Brough of Birsay. This ancient settlement dates back to the 6th century and offers a glimpse into the lives of early Norse settlers in the area. Visitors can explore the remains of a Norse settlement, including a well-preserved church and a Pictish symbol stone.

Overall, Brough in Shetland offers a unique experience for those seeking tranquility, natural beauty, and a glimpse into the rich history of the area.
