Blythburgh is a civil parish located in the northeastern part of Suffolk, England. It is situated on the A12 road, approximately five miles west of Southwold and six miles south of Lowestoft. The parish covers an area of around 8 square miles and is nestled within the beautiful Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The village of Blythburgh has a population of around 300 residents. It is known for its historic charm, with many of its buildings dating back to the medieval period. One of the most prominent landmarks is the Holy Trinity Church, also known as the Cathedral of the Marshes due to its impressive size and grandeur. The church features stunning stained glass windows and a 13th-century font.

The area is renowned for its natural beauty and is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. The Blyth Estuary, located nearby, is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is home to a wide variety of bird species, including avocets, marsh harriers, and bitterns. The surrounding heathlands and marshes also provide a habitat for rare plants and animals.

Blythburgh is steeped in history and folklore. It is said to be the location of the mythical Black Shuck, a ghostly black dog that has been sighted in the area since the 16th century. The village also played a significant role in the smuggling trade during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Today, Blythburgh offers a peaceful and picturesque setting for residents and visitors alike. It is a popular destination for walkers and cyclists, with numerous trails and paths to explore. The village has a pub, a primary school, and a village hall, which hosts various community events throughout the year.
