Blackpool tramway and Pleasure Beach

A tram calls at Burlington Road West tram stop, before heading past the Pleasure Beach amusement park. The skyline is dominated by The Big One, the UK's tallest rollercoaster which is 235 feet high. It was built in 1994. The road adjacent to the tram lines forms part of the A584.

Mirror Ball sculpture, Blackpool

The Mirror Ball sculpture was installed on Blackpool's seafront in 2002. It forms part of The Great Promenade Show. When this image was taken in October 2021, the sculpture was undergoing refurbishment, which was almost complete. It had been dismantled and taken away for its mirror tiles to be replaced. It had not long been reinstalled, and was awaiting the final work, which would see the final new mirror tiles added to cover up the joins in the ball. In the background is The Big One, a rollercoaster which stands at 235 feet high.

Tram near Starr Gate, Blackpool

A tramway runs the full length of Blackpool's seafront, from Starr Gate to Bispham, then continues to Cleveleys and Fleetwood. This image was taken near the southern terminus at Starr Gate. In the background is The Big One, the UK's highest rollercoaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. To the left of the image are two of the sculptures which form part of The Great Promenade Show - "Glam Rocks" and "Mirror Ball".

Cyclists' Rest stands at the southern end of Blackpool's seafront. The seafront promenade stretches northwards for 7 miles (around 11 kilometres) from here. It forms part of the route of National Cycle Network route 62.

Welcome arch, Starr Gate, Blackpool

An arch of coloured lights stands above the road at Starr Gate, marking the entrance to Blackpool promenade. The arch also marks the start of Blackpool's illuminations. The illuminations are seasonal, but this arch (and its counterpart at Bispham, at the far end of the illuminations) are in place all year round. The road forms part of the route of the A584. To the left of the road, a tram stands at the Starr Gate terminus. The tramway runs from here northwards along the promenade through Blackpool to Bispham, then onwards through Cleveleys to Fleetwood.
