Greys Court is a historic Tudor country house located in the picturesque countryside of Oxfordshire, England. It is a well-preserved heritage site that showcases the architectural style and lifestyle of the Tudor period.

The house was built in the late 16th century and has remained relatively unchanged since then, making it a valuable example of Tudor architecture. It features a traditional timber frame construction, with intricate carvings and ornate details on its façade. The interior of Greys Court is equally impressive, with oak panelled rooms, grand fireplaces, and beautiful stained glass windows.

Surrounded by stunning gardens and extensive grounds, Greys Court offers visitors a glimpse into the past. The gardens are meticulously maintained and include a walled garden, herbaceous borders, and a delightful rose garden. There are also ancient trees, a wildflower meadow, and a picturesque orchard, providing a tranquil setting for visitors to explore.

In addition to the house and gardens, Greys Court has a rich history. It was home to the Brunner family for over 80 years and boasts a collection of furniture, artwork, and personal belongings that reflect their lives. The property also played a significant role during World War II, as it served as a safe house for evacuees.

Today, Greys Court is open to the public and managed by the National Trust. Visitors can take guided tours of the house, learn about its history, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The site also offers a tearoom, gift shop, and various events throughout the year, making it a popular destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

It's just a fire basket on a pole. Was it done for the Millennium or something?
It would be a fine thing to fire it up on a Summer night and carry your pint over and sit round it, but I guess that would be a tad too wild for the Health & Safety inquisitors.
