Cock Hill is a historic site located in Somerset, England, renowned for its rich heritage and cultural significance. Situated near the village of Priddy, it is an ancient hilltop enclosure that dates back to the Iron Age, making it an important archaeological site.

The hill is believed to have been inhabited for thousands of years, with evidence of human activity dating back to the Neolithic period. It is surrounded by a series of defensive earthworks, known as a hillfort, which were constructed around 500 BC. These earthworks consist of ramparts and ditches, designed to provide protection and control access to the hilltop.

Cock Hill is also notable for its association with the Roman occupation of Britain. Roman artifacts, including coins and pottery, have been discovered in the area, suggesting that the site was utilized during this period. Additionally, remnants of a medieval chapel, dedicated to St. Leonard, have been found on the hill, further highlighting its historical importance.

The site offers panoramic views of the surrounding Somerset countryside, providing a picturesque backdrop for those venturing to the top. The area is managed by local authorities and is open to the public, with informative signage explaining the site's historical significance. Socombe Hill. The A39 between Bridgwater and Street runs along the ridge of the Polden Hills. The land falls away on both sides of the ridge onto the Somerset levels which are about at sea level. This makes the Polden Hills look more impressive than the height of 98 metres at the top of the hill would suggest. The main road is about 200m to the left of the crest.
