Bank Hall is a historic mansion located in Bretherton, Lancashire, England. This Grade II* listed building dates back to the 17th century and is renowned for its architectural grandeur and historical significance. It stands as a testament to the opulence and wealth of the Victorian era.

The mansion was originally built in 1608 by the Banastre family, but it underwent significant renovations in the mid-19th century under the ownership of George Anthony Legh Keck. The renovations were carried out by the renowned architect George Webster, who transformed the building into an exquisite example of Jacobean revival architecture.

Bank Hall is characterized by its distinctive red brick façade, intricate stone carvings, and elegant bay windows. The interior features stunning original features such as ornate plasterwork, decorative fireplaces, and a grand oak staircase. The mansion also boasts a beautiful walled garden, which includes a formal rose garden, a fountain, and a number of rare plant species.

Throughout its history, Bank Hall has had various uses, including a family home, a military hospital during World War II, and a school. Unfortunately, the mansion fell into disrepair in the latter half of the 20th century and suffered from neglect and vandalism.

In recent years, however, significant efforts have been made to restore Bank Hall to its former glory. The Friends of Bank Hall, a dedicated group of volunteers, have been working tirelessly to preserve and revive the building. Visitors can now enjoy guided tours of the mansion, exploring its fascinating history, architectural marvels, and ongoing restoration efforts. Bank Hall is a cherished heritage site that offers a glimpse into Lancashire's rich past and serves as a reminder of the importance of historical preservation.
