Beggar's Cap is a small island located off the coast of East Lothian, Scotland. Situated in the Firth of Forth, it is known for its distinctive shape, resembling a cap or hat, which gave rise to its name. The island is uninhabited and covers an area of approximately 0.1 hectares.

Beggar's Cap is characterized by its rugged and rocky terrain, with steep cliffs rising from the surrounding waters. The island is primarily composed of volcanic rock, believed to be formed millions of years ago during volcanic activity in the region. Its geological features make it a popular destination for geologists and nature enthusiasts.

The island is home to a variety of seabirds, including guillemots, razorbills, and puffins, which nest on the cliffs. The surrounding waters are also rich in marine life, with seals often seen basking on the rocks or swimming in the vicinity.

Access to Beggar's Cap is limited due to its remote location and lack of facilities. However, it can be observed from nearby coastal areas, offering stunning views of its unique shape and the surrounding natural beauty of East Lothian.

While the island does not offer any amenities or activities for visitors, its picturesque charm and natural allure make it a worthwhile destination for those seeking solitude, birdwatching opportunities, or a chance to explore Scotland's stunning coastline.

Fun on the Beach A family group with dog are having a nice day on Seacliff beach in the shadow of the Bass Rock. Presumably the full length camouflaged garment is for putting on after swimming in the sea as many were on this summers day.

Bass Rock from Seacliff Summers day on Seacliff beach looking out to the Bass Rock in the Forth. The beach was actually very busy so had to be quick to get a picture with no humans, canines or equines!

Heading to the Rock This couple appear to be heading to the Bass Rock. Of course they can't as there is about 1.5 miles of open sea to get to the rock as well as 2 miles of rough coastline. On Peffer Sands near Ravensheugh.
