Corrie of the Barns is a picturesque glacial valley located in Banffshire, Scotland. Nestled amidst the scenic Cairngorms National Park, this natural wonder is renowned for its awe-inspiring beauty and rich geological history.

The corrie, also known as a cirque, was formed thousands of years ago during the last Ice Age. As glaciers slowly carved their way through the landscape, they created this deep, U-shaped valley with steep sides and a flat floor. The rugged cliffs that enclose the corrie are a striking feature, reaching heights of up to 100 meters.

The valley is adorned with a diverse range of flora and fauna, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts. The lower slopes are covered in lush grasslands, while higher up, heather and moss dominate the landscape. During the summer months, the valley comes alive with a vibrant display of wildflowers, including primroses, harebells, and purple saxifrage. The corrie is also home to various bird species, such as golden eagles, peregrine falcons, and ptarmigans.

Corrie of the Barns offers a multitude of recreational opportunities for visitors. Hiking and walking trails crisscross the valley, allowing visitors to explore its hidden corners and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views. The corrie is often a popular spot for rock climbing enthusiasts, with its steep cliffs providing challenging routes.

Surrounded by the scenic beauty of the Cairngorms, Corrie of the Barns is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, geology enthusiasts, and adventure seekers alike. Its tranquil ambiance, stunning landscapes, and rich natural heritage make it a true gem in the heart of Scotland.
