Helen's Chambers is a prominent coastal feature located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is a striking headland that extends into the North Sea. The headland is named after Helen, a local figure who was known for her bravery and resilience during the area's history.

The headland is characterized by its rugged cliffs, which rise majestically from the sea. The cliffs are composed of sedimentary rocks, displaying various layers that have been formed over millions of years. These layers provide an insight into the geological history of the region.

Helen's Chambers offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding coastline and the vast expanse of the North Sea. On clear days, it is possible to see as far as the neighboring headlands and beyond. This makes it a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers.

The headland is also a haven for wildlife. Various seabirds nest on the cliffs, including puffins, guillemots, and razorbills. The surrounding waters are home to a diverse range of marine life, including seals, dolphins, and occasionally, whales.

Visitors to Helen's Chambers can explore the headland by following a well-marked coastal path that winds its way along the cliffs. The path provides access to several lookout points, allowing visitors to soak in the breathtaking scenery. However, it is important to exercise caution as the cliffs can be steep and unstable.

Helen's Chambers is a true gem of Aberdeenshire's coastline, offering a unique blend of natural beauty, geological significance, and wildlife diversity. It is a place where visitors can reconnect with nature and marvel at the wonders of the North Sea.

Buchanhaven Harbour In 1850 work started on a new pier, to replace an earlier small one to the west. This was to be the first stage in the building of a proper harbour basin for large herring boats. This plan was never completed. Buchanhaven Pier, as it stands today, did allow the fishermen to operate small-line boats. By the mid 1860s there were 27 boats working from the harbour.

The proximity of Peterhead and other larger fishing harbours eventually led to the demise of the harbour and nowadays only a few small boats use it.
