The wick is characterized by its calm and sheltered waters, making it an ideal spot for boating, fishing, and other water-based activities. The deep blue sea merges seamlessly with the rocky shoreline, creating a striking contrast that is pleasing to the eye. The area is also known for its diverse wildlife, with seabirds, seals, and occasionally even otters being spotted in and around the wick.

The estuary of Blida Wick is home to a variety of marine life, including fish species such as cod, haddock, and mackerel. Fish farm boat, Gunnista Voe A rather steep and rough track (I'd have attempted it in a Mini in my youth, but rather more circumspect in middle age, high clearance 4-wheel drive seemed a better idea) reaches this small quay on Gunnista Voe, which is occupied by fish farming installations. We were prospecting for a place to put on with sea kayaks, and this seemed a little too awkward, though it was the only place near the water with adequate parking in the vicinity.
