Stoal Skerry is a small uninhabited island located off the coast of Shetland, Scotland. It is situated in the North Atlantic Ocean, approximately 2 miles northeast of the Isle of Whalsay. The island measures around 800 meters in length and is composed primarily of rocky terrain.

Known for its diverse wildlife and rugged beauty, Stoal Skerry is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The island is a nesting ground for a variety of seabirds, including guillemots, puffins, and kittiwakes. These avian species are attracted to the steep cliffs and rocky outcrops that provide ideal breeding conditions.

The surrounding waters of Stoal Skerry are also home to an array of marine life. Seals can often be seen basking on the nearby rocks, while porpoises and dolphins occasionally visit the area. The island's underwater environment is rich in marine flora and fauna, making it a popular spot for divers and snorkelers.

Access to Stoal Skerry is mainly by boat, and visitors are advised to exercise caution due to the rocky coastline and strong currents. The island offers breathtaking views of the surrounding ocean and the nearby Shetland mainland. Its remote and untouched nature provides a unique opportunity for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers to observe a thriving ecosystem in its natural state.

Stoal Skerry is a hidden gem in the Shetland archipelago, offering a tranquil retreat for those seeking solitude and a chance to connect with nature.
