Baba Skerries is a group of uninhabited islands located in the Shetland archipelago, situated off the northeast coast of Scotland. These small islands are part of the larger Skerries archipelago and are known for their rugged beauty and diverse wildlife.

The Baba Skerries islands are composed mainly of rugged cliffs and rocky shores, with the highest point being approximately 50 meters above sea level. The jagged coastline is dotted with numerous sea caves and stacks, providing a stunning backdrop for visitors and wildlife enthusiasts.

The islands are home to a wide variety of bird species, including puffins, guillemots, razorbills, and fulmars. These birds use the cliffs and crags as nesting sites during the breeding season, creating a cacophony of sounds and a spectacle of aerial displays. The surrounding waters are also teeming with marine life, including seals, dolphins, and porpoises.

Access to Baba Skerries is primarily by boat, as there are no permanent settlements or facilities on the islands. The remote and untouched nature of the islands makes them a popular destination for nature lovers and birdwatchers. Visitors can enjoy boat tours or explore the islands by kayak, taking in the stunning scenery and observing the abundant wildlife.

It is important to note that due to their protected status, visitors are encouraged to respect the fragile ecosystem and wildlife habitats when visiting Baba Skerries. This includes adhering to any restrictions or guidelines set forth by local authorities or conservation organizations.

Fish farm boat, Gunnista Voe A rather steep and rough track (I'd have attempted it in a Mini in my youth, but rather more circumspect in middle age, high clearance 4-wheel drive seemed a better idea) reaches this small quay on Gunnista Voe, which is occupied by fish farming installations. We were prospecting for a place to put on with sea kayaks, and this seemed a little too awkward, though it was the only place near the water with adequate parking in the vicinity.
