Carreg Rhoson is a small island located off the coast of Pembrokeshire, Wales. It is situated approximately 1.5 kilometers southwest of the village of Solva. The island is accessible by foot at low tide, but becomes completely cut off during high tide.

With an area of about 1.5 hectares, Carreg Rhoson is characterized by its rocky terrain and limited vegetation. The island is mostly composed of rugged cliffs, which provide nesting sites for various seabirds, including guillemots and razorbills. It is also home to a small colony of grey seals, which can often be seen basking on the rocks or swimming in the surrounding waters.

The island's name, Carreg Rhoson, translates to "Rhoshill Rock" in English, referring to the large rock formation that dominates the landscape. This distinctive feature has become a popular spot for climbers, attracting both experienced climbers and enthusiasts looking to challenge themselves.

Due to its remote location and limited facilities, Carreg Rhoson is not inhabited and has no permanent structures. However, the island is frequently visited by nature lovers, birdwatchers, and outdoor enthusiasts who are drawn to its untouched beauty and peaceful atmosphere.

It is important to note that visitors to Carreg Rhoson should be aware of the tides to ensure a safe visit. Additionally, the island is part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, which means it is protected and visitors are encouraged to respect the natural environment and wildlife that call Carreg Rhoson home.

Carreg Rhoson from Whitesands Bay There are at least 8 islets in this group, but from this direction they appear to merge into one. A scattered group of islands is known as the Bishops and Clerks. As North Bishop and South Bishop are, unsurprisingly, at the north and south ends of the group, the islets of Carreg Rhoson must be some of the clerks!

The Carreg Rhoson islets span two grid squares, but I have submitted this photo for the square containing the highest point, 44m.
