New year's noon-day walk-past and fly-past At 12:00 noon on the dot, my photo of a couple walking alongside the small lake at Culverthorpe Park was photo-bombed by what appears to be an egret in flight!

North Hill is a prominent hill located in the county of Lincolnshire, England. Situated near the town of Cleethorpes, it is a notable geographical feature in the area. While it is referred to as a hill, it is more accurately described as a small elevation rather than a towering mountain.

Rising to an approximate height of 34 meters (112 feet) above sea level, North Hill offers picturesque views of the surrounding landscape. The hill is covered in lush green grass, making it an attractive spot for locals and visitors alike. Its gentle slopes provide a pleasant area for leisurely walks or picnics.

North Hill is located near the coastline, offering stunning vistas of the North Sea. On clear days, it is possible to see as far as the Humber Estuary and the Lincolnshire Wolds, adding to the hill's appeal. It is also part of the larger Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park, which stretches along the coast and boasts diverse flora and fauna.

The hill has historical significance as well. It is believed to have played a role during World War II as a vantage point for spotting enemy aircraft, owing to its elevated position. Today, it serves as a reminder of the region's wartime past and attracts history enthusiasts.

Overall, North Hill in Lincolnshire is a charming, modestly elevated landform that offers picturesque views of the surrounding coastal area. Its accessibility and historical significance make it a popular destination for locals and tourists seeking a peaceful escape or a glimpse into the region's past.

St Michael & All Angels, Heydour The guide to the church says that it is built of Ancaster stone in the Norman, Early English Decorated and Perpendicular styles, the entrance porch has a stone roof, and the base of the Norman tower has a small doorway with dog toothed ornament. The tower arch and lower portion of the north wall is Early English, the chancel is 13th-century and was rebuilt about 1865, the nave was rebuilt during the 14th-century and the clerestory windows were added in the 15th-century.

The octagonal font has patterns of tracery which are incomplete. There are two medieval windows to be found in the north aisle, a collection of armour which was placed on the coffin of a soldier and there is an exceptionally good set of monuments. (Which are unfortunately hidden away in the vestry.) Not mentioned in the guide are some decorative flower paintings which can be found on the walls of the chancel.
