Bersa Hill is a prominent hill located in the Shetland Islands, an archipelago off the northeast coast of Scotland. Situated on the main island known as Mainland, Bersa Hill stands at an elevation of approximately 407 feet (124 meters) above sea level.

With its distinctive cone-shaped summit and rugged terrain, Bersa Hill offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Its strategic location provides visitors with breathtaking sights of the nearby North Sea, neighboring islands, and the charming Shetland countryside.

The hill is easily accessible by foot, and a well-defined trail leads hikers to its summit. The trail is moderately challenging, making it suitable for both experienced hikers and those seeking a leisurely stroll. Along the way, visitors can appreciate the diverse flora and fauna that inhabit the area, including a variety of heather and moss species.

Bersa Hill holds historical significance, as it is believed to have been used as a lookout point during World War II. The remnants of an old observation post can still be found near the summit, serving as a reminder of the island's wartime past.

Nature enthusiasts and photographers are drawn to Bersa Hill due to its picturesque setting and the opportunity to capture stunning views of the Shetland landscape. Whether it's witnessing a breathtaking sunset or simply enjoying a peaceful walk in nature, Bersa Hill offers an unforgettable experience for all who venture to its summit.

Shetland Bus Memorial This is the memorial to what became known as the Shetland Bus, a special operation which ran between Shetland and occupied Norway from 1941 until the surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945. The purpose was to transport arms and other supplies to the Norwegian resistance and fishing boats were used as cover with crossings being made under cover of darkness however stormy the weather. The nearby Scalloway Museum has an excellent exhibit detailing the operations and the people involved.
