Bekka Hill is a prominent hill located in the Shetland Islands, an archipelago in Scotland, United Kingdom. Rising to an elevation of approximately 195 meters (640 feet), it is known for its commanding views of the surrounding landscape.

Situated in the southwestern part of the Mainland, Shetland's largest island, Bekka Hill is a popular attraction for hikers, nature enthusiasts, and outdoor adventurers. Its location near the village of Sandwick makes it easily accessible for visitors and locals alike.

The hill itself is characterized by its gently sloping sides, which are covered by heather, grass, and scattered rocks. Its relatively low elevation, compared to other hills in the area, allows for a pleasant and relatively easy ascent for those looking to explore the surrounding countryside.

Upon reaching the summit of Bekka Hill, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the rugged coastline, rolling hills, and the vast expanse of the North Sea. On clear days, it is even possible to catch a glimpse of neighboring islands, such as Mousa and the Fair Isle.

Besides its natural beauty, Bekka Hill also holds historical significance. The surrounding area is dotted with ancient archaeological sites, including the ruins of Iron Age brochs and Viking settlements, adding an extra layer of intrigue and fascination to the hill and its surroundings.

Overall, Bekka Hill is a captivating destination that offers both natural beauty and historical intrigue, making it a must-visit location for anyone exploring the picturesque Shetland Islands.

Breaking waves and Fora Ness, Sand, Shetland Sand Beach is one of the many shallow sandy bays around the Shetland coastline. It's perfect for a late afternoon swim if there's no wind, and the sun has been shining all day to warm the sand and water, but pretty chilly the rest of the time - which is most of the time!
