Doggy Bags? Sadly, I have become accustomed to little plastic bags with unpleasant contents being abandoned by filthy scum on trees and fences along the routes of popular dog walks. I am very glad that I did not meet whatever is big enough to have produced the contents of these bags, especially if it was in a bad mood.

Get Off My Land! I was quite glad that there was a fence between me and this amazingly aggressive goose, who came rushing up to me hooting and extending his wings in a threatening manner. He pecked viciously at my boot and trouser leg when I put the toe of my boot through the fence to see what he would do. Thanks to Hugh Venables for telling me that he is a Cape Barren Goose. This species (Cereopsis novaehollandiae) is native to south-eastern Australia.
