Oh to be on Cooperee!!.... An Orton ghillie transports two salmon anglers across the river on Orton's Cooperee pool. The salmon season on the Spey runs from 11th February to 30th September; there are plenty of fish in the river and I have witnessed several in the 20 pound plus bracket this afternoon but their interest lies in things other than the various flies on offer.

Fly fishing for salmon on Cooperee Here the angler is about to complete the "double Spey" cast. The Spey casting technique has been developed over the years to enable the casting of a fly in an area where the river bank may be lined with trees or some other obstacles which may jeopardise the transport of the fly.
