A beautiful Saturday in May - cool at the coast, but blue skies and warm sunshine inland. A drive up an ever narrowing road/track from Llanbedr brings you to Llyn Cwm Bychan in the Rhinogydd mountains of Snowdonia. This is a starting point for walking the Roman Steps. The view is from the end of the car park - i.e. a farmer's field with an honesty box on the gate - looking across Llyn Cwm Bychan towards Carreg Y Saeth. Llyn Cwm Bychan is one of the sources of the Afon Artro which flows south westwards through Llanbedr and onwards to the sea.

The view is from the lakeside by the track just before you reach the car park - the car park being a farmer's field with an honesty box on the gate - looking across Llyn Cwm Bychan towards the Roman Steps where they cut up through some beautiful woodlands and on up into the Rhinogydd mountains. A beautiful, warm Saturday in May when it seemed as if we were the only people there - the only sounds being the many cuckoos giving voice with determination, the bubble of the stream and the occasional sigh of a light breeze.
