An Socach is a prominent hill located in the county of Ross-shire, Scotland. It is part of the region known as the Northwest Highlands and is situated within the Glen Affric National Nature Reserve. With an elevation of 1,069 meters (3,507 feet), it is classified as a Munro, which means it stands amongst the prestigious list of Scottish mountains over 3,000 feet.

The summit of An Socach offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. On a clear day, hikers can enjoy vistas of the iconic Loch Mullardoch to the north and the rugged peaks of Glen Cannich to the south. The mountain is characterized by its distinctive pyramid-like shape, making it a recognizable landmark in the area.

The ascent to An Socach can be challenging, but several well-defined paths provide accessible routes for experienced hillwalkers. The most commonly used approach is from the Glen Affric side, starting at the car park near Chisholm Bridge. The trail takes hikers through dense forests, across open moorland, and up steep slopes, rewarding them with stunning views and a sense of accomplishment upon reaching the summit.

The surrounding area is rich in wildlife, and lucky visitors may spot red deer, golden eagles, and ptarmigans during their hike. An Socach is also home to a variety of plant species, including heather, mosses, and wildflowers.
