Am Meallan is a prominent hill located in Inverness-shire, a county in the Scottish Highlands. Rising to a height of approximately 400 meters (1,312 feet), it offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The hill is situated in a remote and rugged area, characterized by rolling hills, rocky terrain, and abundant vegetation.

Am Meallan is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly hikers and mountaineers, who are drawn to its challenging yet rewarding trails. The ascent to the summit can be demanding, but the breathtaking vistas at the top make it well worth the effort. On a clear day, one can admire the expansive views of the nearby Loch Ness, the Great Glen, and the surrounding mountains.

The hill is also known for its diverse flora and fauna. The lower slopes are covered in heather, while the higher regions are dominated by grasses and mosses. Many species of birds, including golden eagles and peregrine falcons, can be spotted soaring above the hill. Additionally, Am Meallan is home to various mammals such as red deer and mountain hares, which can often be seen grazing or hopping around the hillside.

Pot of Gold? Alas no - just a brand new deer fence snaking along the slopes of Beinn Eun which was climbed twice on a climb of Toll Creagach. Quite a wild day to be out with snow on the summits.
