Llech Isaf is a prominent cliff located in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Situated near the town of Fishguard, it offers breathtaking views of the rugged coastline and the Irish Sea. This natural landmark is famous for its imposing height and steep slopes, making it a popular destination for hikers, nature enthusiasts, and photographers.

The cliff is composed of sedimentary rocks, mainly sandstone and shale, which have been shaped by millions of years of erosion. Its vertical face, towering over 100 meters, is a testament to the power of the ocean and the constant battle between land and sea. The layers of rock are clearly visible, showcasing the geological history of the area.

The slope leading up to the cliff is covered in lush grasses, heather, and wildflowers, creating a vibrant and picturesque landscape. It is not uncommon to spot various bird species, such as peregrine falcons, choughs, and fulmars, nesting on the ledges of the cliff. The surrounding vegetation provides an ideal habitat for small mammals, including rabbits and voles.

Access to Llech Isaf is relatively easy, with a well-maintained footpath leading from the nearby coastal path. However, visitors are advised to exercise caution when exploring the cliff, as the edges can be steep and unstable. The local authorities have installed safety barriers in certain areas to prevent accidents and protect the natural environment.

Overall, Llech Isaf is a magnificent natural wonder that offers a glimpse into the geological and ecological diversity of Pembrokeshire. Its striking beauty and rich biodiversity make it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the region.

Perilous point There is some inconsistency between different versions of the Ordnance Survey as to whether this or the next headland is Pen Sidan. Either way, the only reason for scrambling down here was to claim another green square! It's very steep and accessible only via paths made by sheep - and even they sometimes come a cropper, as reported in the local newspaper recently:

"Things went a bit woolly for Fishguard's inshore lifeboat crew yesterday afternoon, as they had a sheep on board.
The animal had become stranded at the bottom of a cliff near Dinas Head. Fishguard coastguard rescue team was also called to the scene.
The baaad sheep was helped aboard the inshore lifeboat, who landed in a safe place. They then delivered the animal to the coastguard team who took her back to the farmer."
