Talybont Reservoir is a large freshwater lake located in the county of Brecknockshire, Wales. It is situated near the village of Talybont-on-Usk and is part of the Talybont Reservoir Nature Reserve. Covering an area of approximately 346 acres, the reservoir is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers.

The lake was created in the late 19th century as a water supply for the nearby industrial towns. It is fed by the River Caerfanell and the River Talybont, with excess water being released through a dam at the northern end. The dam is an impressive structure standing at around 40 meters high, providing a stunning backdrop to the reservoir.

Surrounded by rolling hills and verdant countryside, Talybont Reservoir offers breathtaking views and a tranquil atmosphere. It is a haven for wildlife, with numerous bird species, including the great crested grebe and tufted duck, making it their home. The surrounding marshland provides a rich habitat for various plants and animals, adding to the ecological diversity of the area.

The reservoir is a popular spot for fishing, with anglers casting their lines in search of brown and rainbow trout. Boating and sailing are also common activities on the lake, with visitors enjoying the opportunity to explore its calm waters.

Talybont Reservoir is not only a scenic and recreational site but also plays a vital role in supplying water to the local communities. Its natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and recreational opportunities make it a cherished location for both locals and tourists alike.
