Fakenham Magna St Peter and St Paul’s church Not to be confused with Fakenham in Norfolk! This is a very old church; signs of Saxon building methods are clear to see. Long and short quoins are evident in the stonework of the nave. Slit windows, although blocked are still visible in the nave walls. The buttresses at the corner of the chancel are gabled. As you wander round, notice how the churchyard is higher than the base of the church walls, a sure sign of an early structure. Inside the old south porch is a restored stoup, but on the door is an original 14th c. ring-handle on a boss in the form of a mask.
