Three Cornered Wood is a picturesque woodland located in the county of Essex, England. Situated near the village of Epping, it covers an area of approximately 35 hectares. The wood gets its name from its unique triangular shape, formed by the intersection of three ancient footpaths.

The woodland is predominantly made up of broadleaf trees, such as oak, beech, and hornbeam, which provide a stunning display of vibrant colors during the autumn months. The dense canopy created by these trees offers a cool and shady atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts and walkers to explore.

Three Cornered Wood boasts a diverse range of flora and fauna, with a variety of wildflowers, ferns, and mosses carpeting the forest floor. The wood is particularly known for its abundant birdlife, including species such as the great spotted woodpecker, tawny owl, and nuthatch. It is also home to small mammals like foxes, badgers, and squirrels.

The wood is crisscrossed by a network of well-marked footpaths, allowing visitors to navigate through the different sections of the woodland and take in its natural beauty. There are also several benches dotted along the trails, providing peaceful spots for visitors to rest and enjoy the serene surroundings.

Managed by the local council, Three Cornered Wood is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), recognizing its ecological importance and the need for its conservation. The wood is open to the public throughout the year, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
