Glasshanger Copse is a picturesque woodland located in Hampshire, England. It is situated near the village of Selborne and covers an area of approximately 20 acres. The copse is part of the larger Selborne Common, which encompasses a diverse range of habitats including woodland, heathland, and meadows.

The woodland is predominantly made up of deciduous trees, with oak, beech, and birch being the most common species. The dense canopy formed by these trees creates a cool and shaded environment, making it an ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife.

Glasshanger Copse is home to many bird species, including the great spotted woodpecker, tawny owl, and chiffchaff. These birds can often be heard singing and foraging for food among the branches. The woodland floor is carpeted with a rich variety of wildflowers, such as bluebells, primroses, and wood anemones, which provide a burst of color during the spring months.

The copse is a popular destination for nature lovers and walkers, who can enjoy a peaceful stroll along the well-maintained footpaths that wind through the woodland. There are also several benches strategically placed, offering visitors a chance to sit and admire the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Glasshanger Copse is not only a haven for wildlife but also plays an important role in maintaining the ecological balance of the area. It serves as a natural filter for rainwater, preventing soil erosion and protecting the nearby Selborne Common from flooding.

Overall, Glasshanger Copse is a charming woodland that offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in nature and experience the tranquility of Hampshire's countryside.
