Dried Up Pond, Vernham Dean Vernham Dean's village pond isn't a very good example of the genre. Apparently it does have water in it after a lot of rain, but we've had a pretty wet spring and it's still more like a lawn than a pond.
Not helped by someone digging a hole in the middle which will surely have gone through any remains of a clay lining.

Old Post Office, Vernham Dean Most villages have got one of these, along with the old schools and old bakeries etc. (Actually, that's not fair, Vernham Dean still has a school) This place is looking a lot better than when it was pictured in 2008 SU3356 : Was this the Post Office, Vernham Dean which says it ceased being a Post Office back in 2005.

The Tap Still Works You see these from time to time, but rarely are they still working. This one does, and someone has thoughtfully provided a dog bowl. This is over the road from The George Inn.
