St Mary Magdalene's Church, Turnastone Turnastone is a hamlet in the Golden Valley, in the South Herefordshire district. It is 10 miles W of Hereford and the nearest village is Vowchurch, less than half a mile to the E.  The church has an aisleless nave and chancel in one with a low weatherboarded timber bell turret with a pyramid roof over the W gable and a timber S porch.

River Dore, Vowchurch The River Dore is a tributary of the River Monnow in Herefordshire. It rises on Cusop Hill, in the foothills of the Black Mountains, close to the border between England and Wales and flows for 12 miles through the villages of Dorstone, Peterchurch, Vowchurch, Abbey Dore and Pontrilas, before reaching the Monnow near Llangua. The Monnow itself is a tributary which flows into the River Wye at Monmouth. The river is noted for its fishing, including trout and grayling. In 2006, the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust initiated a programme to clear the river of invasive mink, and repopulate it with water voles.
