Grey Seal at the Western Rocks, Scilly The Grey Seals on Scilly must be the most laid-back seals in Britain. They will hold their position on a rock despite the tourists passing by and the tide rising. Many, like this one almost seem to be saying "Is this my best side?"

Melledgan One of the few Western Rocks that perhaps could be called an island. There is sufficient area above the high water mark to support some vegetation. As with all the non-cultivated open ground in the islands it is managed by the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust (formerly Environmental Trust); landing is not permitted at any time.

The phonetic spelling for the local pronunciation would be something like meligeun (with the emphasis on the second syllable - rhyming with religion).
