Kibou no Hana Yellow is the colour between green and orange on the spectrum of visible light. It is evoked by light with a predominant wavelength of roughly 570–590 nm. Mirai no Hana Violet is the color of amethyst, lavender and beautyberries. It takes its name from the violet flower. Violet is the color at the end of the visible spectrum of light between blue and the invisible ultraviolet. In the meaning of colors, purple and violet represent the future, the imagination and dreams, while spiritually calming the emotions. They inspire and enhance psychic ability and spiritual enlightenment, while, at the same time, keeping us grounded. Purple and violet look similar only to humans. To us, humans, purple looks like a more saturated shade of violet, but violet coloured objects in nature are often significantly different from purple coloured ones. Purple objects are “red and blue at the same time”, whereas violet objects are… just violet. If you take a look at the distance between violet and blue in the picture of the spectrum above, it is about the same as the distance between green and orange. Purple is a mixture of red, which is at the opposite side of the spectrum than violet, and blue, which is relatively far from violet, so it is, in terms of wavelengths, a completely different colour. The reason why purple and violet look similar to us is the particular absorption curve of our “red” cones, which most other animals don’t share. This means that to other animals, purple and violet may look completely different! Btw, can you spot an ant in this picture?
Hibiscus Reproductive Close Up Hibiscus is a great flower to photograph. The contrast between the green sepals and bracts, showy red petals, this particular variety, deep red pistils surrounded by bright yellow stamens make a great study in contrast especially against a dark background. You may not enjoy the botany below, but I’m sure you’ll agree that nature truly offers a marvelous spectacle in the microscopic. Those flowers which have both sex organs are known as bisexual flowers, like this Hibiscus. Hibiscus flowers are perfect flowers (also known as complete flowers). This means each flower has both male and female reproductive structure, petals, sepals and a receptacle. An imperfect, or incomplete, flower is missing one or more of these features. The pistil is the female reproductive part of a plant. The pistil is made up of the ovary where seeds develop, the stigma that catches pollen and the style that is the tube between the stigma and ovary. The ovary of the hibiscus is called superior because it sits within the petals rather than below them. Each hibiscus ovary has five chambers and so can produce five seeds. At the top of its style, the hibiscus has five branches that curve outward from one another. At the tip of each of these branches is a round stigma. The male reproductive structure in a plant is called the stamen. It is made up of the anther that holds the pollen and a stalk called the filament on which the anther sits. In a hibiscus flower, the filaments fuse into a tube that surrounds the style. Numerous anthers stick out from the filaments almost like the feathers on a feather duster. The five stigma stick up above the anthers.
