Penharget Wood is a picturesque woodland located in Cornwall, England. Situated near the village of St. Breward, it covers an area of approximately 30 hectares. The wood is part of the Bodmin Moor Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), which highlights its ecological importance.

The woodland is predominantly composed of oak and beech trees, creating a rich and diverse ecosystem. The dense canopy allows only dappled sunlight to reach the forest floor, creating a cool and shaded environment. This provides the perfect habitat for a variety of flora and fauna, including bluebells, wood anemones, and wild garlic, which carpet the forest floor during springtime.

Penharget Wood is also home to a wide range of bird species, such as woodpeckers, owls, and songbirds. The tranquil atmosphere of the woodland makes it a popular spot for birdwatching enthusiasts.

There are several walking trails that wind their way through the wood, allowing visitors to explore its natural beauty. These paths offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including the rugged Bodmin Moor and the River Camel.

In addition to its natural beauty, Penharget Wood holds historical significance. It was once part of a medieval deer park and has remnants of ancient stone walls, adding to its charm and allure.

Overall, Penharget Wood is a serene and enchanting forest that offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature. Whether it's for a peaceful walk or birdwatching, this woodland provides an idyllic escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
