These houses of c.1850 are listed grade II (list entry 1267961) as 'one of the better-preserved groups of artisan housing in this suburb, built up after the arrival of the railway in 1840-1841.' They look sadly neglected now.
The Old Weigh Station
Listed grade II (list entry 1267960) and officially styled 'Mortimores Weighbridge Office, Chippenham Station Yard'. The listing suggests it was probably part of Rowland Brotherhood's engineering works. The actual weighbridge is to the right, behind Herras fencing in this view, and is better seen from the railway ST9173 : Weighbridge near Chippenham railway station.

The station formerly had three platform tracks, but only two remain, either side of an island platform and can only be reached by means of a footbridge (a similar arrangement to that at Halifax, for example).
