New and old bridges In the 1980s, some stretches of the A83 on the west coast of Kintyre were improved substantially. The section between the village of Bellochantuy and the car park at Westport, previously quite winding, was straightened. New bridges almost invisible to the happy motorist crossed troublesome little burns running towards the sea. In this picture, taken from the shore, we see one of these newer bridges plus the bridge on the older road that it replaced.
