The Broadway, Woodhall Spa

Woodhall Spa's parish council makes its presence felt in the centre of this most untypical Lincolnshire town. At one time a railway crossed The Broadway at this location by means of a skewed level crossing; the site of Woodhall Spa station, which closed to passengers in 1954, is behind the photographer. Freight trains continued to run until 1971.

Station Road, Woodhall Spa

The Station Road name is one of the few reminders that a railway once passed through Woodhall Spa, with a level crossing in the centre of the town. Passenger services were withdrawn in 1954. Here the library stands adjacent to Zucci, a Mediterranean bistro.

Woodhall Spa Conservative Club

Although it occupies a prominent position on Spa Road this rather drab building is not really in keeping with the centre of Woodhall Spa. Nevertheless, it appears to be maintained in a tidy condition. Politically-affiliated clubs like this one can be found in many towns and cities and are usually required to make party donations. The sign in the foreground, despite its colour, is not associated with the club.

This diminutive establishment on Woodhall Spa's Broadway appears to be associated with Bar Eleven next door. The blackboard advertises 2 of Diamonds, an acoustic duo booked to play on 26th March.

Longwood House, Woodhall Spa

Longwood House is at the junction of Iddesleigh Road and The Broadway. It is said to have been influenced by Napoleon’s house on St Helena and is one of the oldest private houses in Woodhall Spa. At one time the building was a chemist's shop catering for the needs of the Spa's patients.
